Aham Brahmasmi - The Supreme Maha Vakya

JaiGurudev !!! My pranams to my Guruji, Sri Sri Ravishankar, and my Kula Guru Sringeri Bharathi Vidya Teertha Swamigal. I start this blog with the pure intention of creating awareness to our Ancient roots and to collate information as I find them. I seek blessings to my Gurus for the same. I would like to start the blog with the post which would explain the profile name I hold "Aham Brahmasmi"

Aham Brahmasmi, which means "I am Brahman" is one of the Maha Vakyas that forms the fulcrum of Advaitha Philosophy put forth by the Great Adi Shankara. The realization of the meaning of the word "Aham Brahmasmi" is liberation. I am not an expert in these topics. But I faithfully surrender myself to the path of Advaitha. I also would like to list the other Maha Vakyas of Advaitha.

( picked from Wikipedia)

The Mahavakyas are:

prajñānam brahma - "Prajña is Brahman", or "Brahman is Prajña" (Aitareya Upanishad 3.3 of the Rig Veda)
ayam ātmā brahma - "I am this Self (Atman) that is Brahman" (Mandukya Upanishad 1.2 of the Atharva Veda)
tat tvam asi - "Thou art That" (Chandogya Upanishad 6.8.7 of the Sama Veda)
aham brahmāsmi - "I am Brahman", or "I am Divine" (Brhadaranyaka Upanishad 1.4.10 of the Yajur Veda)

Adi Shankara installed Four Maths in four corners of India ( Sringeri for Yajur Veda, Dwaraka, Puri and Badrinath). Each Math upheld a Veda along with its Maha Vakyas. I am blessed to belong to the Sringeri Math lineage.

I pray for the spiritual upliftment of the entire mankind. And for the eternal growth of Sanatan Dharma and its Vedic heritage.
